Pickwick Lake in Florence, Alabama has alwasy been one of the top Smallmouth Bass lakes in the country. Five and six pound brownfish are common, and provide the most thrilling jumps in fishing when they are hooked. However, with the recent emergence of hydrilla in the lake, the largemouth fishing is becoming just as good on this aging reservior. It is not uncommon to catch solid bags of both largemouth and smallmouth now on the same day on Pickwick. Pickwick is also an excellent night fishing lake, and trips are available to take advantage of the nocturnal feeding habits of big smallmouth.
